Berlin (DE): FORTE CULTURA at the ITB 2024

For the second time after a long Corona break, the International Tourism Fair - ITB - 2024 took place again at the exhibition centre under the radio tower in Berlin at the beginning of March.

by Dr Hans-Rudolf Neumann

Over a total of three days, there was an opportunity not only to find out about the latest trends and developments in the tourism market, but also to contact FORTE CULTURA members present, e.g. from San Marino, Ohrid, Ingolstadt and Giżycko. Above all, the trade fair offered a good opportunity to address potential new members and arouse interest in fortress tourism.

Lively discussions and talks were therefore held with representatives from the region of the Ionian Islands (Corfu) and Rhodes, the city administration of Sarajevo, one travel company each from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Portugal and the Netherlands, as well as those politically responsible for tourism in the Lazio region of Italy.

Relevant print material was quickly sold out. The representative of the Ionian Islands region, Magda Louvrou, photographs the cover and overview map of the FORTE CULTURA image folder.

The Spanish region of Castellón, with its watchtowers protecting the coastline and the fortress highlight of Peñiscola, expressed great interest in cooperating with FORTE CULTURA. The responsible dialogue partners agreed that marketing their fortress heritage at a European level would also strengthen local tourism development.

Regrettably, for the first time in the history of ITB, France was not represented at the trade fair.
