From 6 to 12 April 2024, a German-Swiss-Dutch specialist group led by Dr Hans-Rudolf Neumann visited both the Turkish and Greek parts of the separate fortress island of Cyprus.

The focus was on Venetian fortifications, among which the star-shaped fortress ring of Nicosia stood out in particular. The restoration work of the UNDP (UN Development Programme), which is intended to promote a reflection to a common cultural heritage with the aim of reunification, is noteworthy.

The extent to which such endeavours could be supported by a cultural route such as FORTE CULTURA was left open by the Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Ersin Tatar during a chance meeting in the northern part of the capital Nicosia.
