"Cultural heritage and creativity for sustainable and inclusive tourism in fortress monuments"

The FORTE CULTURA Congress 2025 at the Forte di Bard fortress will focus specifically on the transformative role of creative tourism and the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) in strengthening Europe's fortress heritage.

As Europe faces challenges in terms of sustainability, identity and community engagement, fortified sites such as Forte di Bard (IT) and the forts of Avrieux and Aussois (FR) are becoming catalysts for cultural and economic regeneration. The cultural heritage of fortified monuments provides a historical and architectural basis for the development of new models of participatory and community-orientated tourism.

It is essential to build international networks of relationships in order to promote synergies in the field of creative tourism and to orientate partnerships towards improved tourism potential in the coming years. The congress itself will serve both as a tourism promotion in a period of low tourism and as an opportunity to reflect on practices already developed by other European fortresses and promote dialogue between Central Europe and the Alpine region.
