Unfortunately, the current flood situation in Eastern Europe has also left its mark on the fortress monuments there. In Ostrava in the Czech Republic, the River Oder burst its banks to such an extent that the MO-S5 casemate was completely flooded.

In Bratislava in the Austrian-Slovakian border region, the Danube has flooded casemate B-S4 for the second time in 11 years. The caretaker teams there do not yet know in what condition they will find their preserved cultural heritage once the water has receded. But one thing is already clear: there will be damage to the interior and to the exhibits. Both teams of carers have therefore posted their account details online on Facebook and are asking for support. A request that we are happy to pass on. The two pictures illustrate the current dramatic situation of the fortress monuments.

The Kostrzyn nad Odra Fortress Museum also had to be evacuated due to the rising water levels. It will therefore not be available for the 10th anniversary celebrations of FORTE CULTURA in Kostrzyn n.O. at the end of November and will remain closed until at least the end of the year.
