On the initiative of the Büdingen tourist information centre under the direction of Arnika Haury, around 20 tour guides from the fortress town met at the end of January to be trained as FORTE CULTURA guides with a certificate. In the two-hour workshop, Dirk Röder provided comprehensive information on the European fortress heritage, the cultural route and the FORTE CULTURA fortress network. The participants now have to consolidate what they have learnt with the help of training documents and then complete an examination form in order to receive the FORTE CULTURA certificate for guides.

The fortified town of Büdingen has been a stop on the FORTE CULTURA European cultural route since 2020 and has a beautiful old town centre with almost completely preserved fortress walls and towers. The guide certificate enables tour guides to convey the exciting fortress history of their town in a European context and link it to other FORTE CULTURA stops.
