The Bard fortress is one of the masterpieces of fortress architecture from the first half of the 19th century. After Napoleon had completely destroyed a previous fortress, Carlo Alberto Amadeo, King of Sardinia-Piedmont, rebuilt the mighty mountain fortress in the Aosta Valley from scratch from 1830 onwards.

Today, museums and modern exhibitions, cultural and sporting events, catering and a hotel attract countless visitors to the fascinating fortress on its various levels. Three funiculars and a lift are required to conquer the fortress.

Ornella Badery, President of the Associazione Forte di Bard, signed the FORTE CULTURA membership application in February. Forte di Bard strengthens the international network of our cultural route as the second station in Italy.
