Online evaluation conference on European best practice

The joint scientific committee FORTE CULTURA / EFFORTS organised an evaluation conference on SUSTAINABLE VALORISATION OF FORTED HERITAGE under the auspices of the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula (HR). The online conference aims to support the cultural heritage of fortified monuments by sharing and discussing best practices across Europe on various topics. The aim is to develop an international and multidisciplinary scientific and research network and to exchange information and experiences related to EUROPEAN BEST PRACTICES in the field of management and development of fortified monuments.

The Conference programme included five focal points:

  • The fortification system of Pula as an example of the necessary development processes of a large fortification system
  • Inventory and building research
  • Restoration and monument protection, conversion and sustainable use
  • Urban and regional development
  • Tourism development and implementation
  • Preparation of possible World Heritage nominations
