Project partnersFaculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology, Municipality of the City Dömitz, FORTE CULTURA e.V. Network of the European Culture Route Fortified Monuments

Tutorassistant professor PhD Ing. arch. Marcin Górski, M.Sc. Ing. arch. Aleksandra Lewicka

The project was carried out by students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, specialising in architectural heritage, in the third semester of their Master's degree. As the last task before graduation, they worked on a historical ensemble with a complex spatial structure, the protection of which requires the introduction of educational and commercial functions, funds for current conservation and local development.

Project goals:

  • Extension of the tourists' stay from a few hours to 2-3 days,
  • Better visualisation of the outlines of the Renaissance fortifications of the citadel and the ideal fortified town,
  • Confrontation with the conditions resulting from the area being placed under the patronage of UNESCO,
  • Development of a tourist service system for the citadel: ticket counters, toilets, information, etc.
  • Analysis of the possibility of realising new parahistorical objects (instead of the non-preserved historical buildings) for tourist service functions
