Status of certification as a Council of Europe Cultural Route

FORTE CULTURA is attending the meeting of the EPA Governing Board (Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe) on 29 April by invitation. This is usually the last stage of the evaluation of the certification application of a cultural route. Here FORTE CULTURA presents itself to the Board and is available for questions and comments. The final decision on the certification application is then announced.

New FORTE CULTURA Station(s) at Upper-Rhine (DE-FR)

We welcome the regional fortress group "Fortresses and Military History on the Upper Rhine 1929-1999" with the Bunker Museum Dettenheim, the Bunker Tour Hausach, the Hornisgrinde Bunker, the Camouflage Bunker Neumühl, the Museum Bunker Emilie (all DE) and the Musée Mémorial Walbourg (2MCLADN, FR) as new FORTE CULTURA stations in our network. The fortress group is part of the Franco-German initiative of 30 fortified monuments and museums on the Upper Rhine, which also includes the fortress town of Germersheim and Fort Schoenenbourg.

Atlantikwall Europe Online-Conference

On 18 March, representatives of the Atlantic Wall from Denmark, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway as well as the Channel Islands met to discuss online the initiative "European Bunker Day" in times of the Corona Pandemic. In the midst of this, FORTE CULTURA was part of the lively exchange of expertise and the initiation of possible cooperations. For more information, please contact the network office.

FORTE CULTURA Scientific Committee Meetings

Since October 2020, there has been a close exchange between the members of the Scientific Advisory Board and the Network Board. Since then, 6 online meetings have laid the foundations for a workshop series on "Sustainable Valorisation of Fortified Heritage - European best practice" and an expanded "EFFORTS - FORTE CULTURA Joint Scientific Committee".

NETWORK MARKETING

100.000 neue Faltkarten „Kulturerbe Festungsmonumente am Oberrhein“

FORTE CULTURA has developed a Fortress flyer with map, a stamp pass and a travelling exhibition on behalf of the Upper Rhine Marketing Association. The marketing tools are now available at the 30 participating fortresses and museums and will accompany the content of the Upper Rhine Fortress Summer from 15 April to 31 October 2021.

Welsch Year at Rosenberg Fortress - "ONE FOR ALL"

To mark the 350th anniversary of the birth of architect Maximilian von Welsch in Kronach, there will be an exciting special programme and exhibition at the Rosenberg Fortress from 5 June to 31 October 2021.

Start European Fortress Summer 2021

On 15 April, the European Fortress Summer 2021 will be launched at a press conference in Germersheim. The campaign developed by FORTE CULTURA in 2018 to market summer events in fortresses will be carried out together with EFFORTS from this year and will be given a new label. The European Fortress Summer includes the "Cultural Summer Elbe Fortresses", the "Fortress Summer Upper Rhine" and many other events and event series. Terezin Konferenz als Hybridveranstaltung geplant

The Corona pandemic continues to make it considerably more difficult to hold face-to-face events. In order to complete the funding project, the International Fortress Conference is now planned as a hybrid event. The date of 8-10 June 2021 will be kept. Further information will follow shortly.
